Hi, I’m Duke. I’m 7 years old and I am part of the furniture here at Amica. My colleagues often feature in the Amica Blog Posts, but I have never had an article published before so I really hope you like my first one.
I first heard about Dentastix through my labradoodle friend Ruby. During our walks in Bournemouth and in the New Forest she would tell me about how tasty they are. Also, she never complained of tooth problems where as I would often have sore gums and have to visit the doggy dentist.
5 years later, I live for these things. From the moment I hear my owners rattle of the packet, I can’t help myself… I’m there! Sometimes they even trick me to come back in from the garden just by rustling the packaging.
They have two flavours. Original flavour (brown) and mint flavour (green). I can’t decide which one I like the most, but I don’t often get time to taste them properly because I’m so busy eating it (and more to the point making sure Humphrey doesn’t steal it from me).
They are designed to be chewed for long enough to be effective, but I really test that design because of how fast I gobble it up. It’s very slightly abrasive and the ingredients are designed to react to my saliva and become active. It’s very clever and to be honest a bit beyond my skills.
I will do literally anything for one of these. I know about four tricks, and when I smell Dentastix my body goes into an automatic mode where I will do each trick within the space of 5 seconds. Such fun!
My teeth have been noticeably better since I’ve been using these regularly. No more sore gums, less visits to the dentist and generally more comfortable. But apparently my breath still smells! I can’t win!
As far as ingredients go, how would I know? I’m a dog! But I had a quick look on the internet and it looks like they contain Cereals, Derivatives of Vegetable Origin, Minerals, Meat and Animal Derivatives, Vegetable Protein Extracts, Oils and Fats. When you say it like that it doesn’t sound that nice, but trust me, you have to try one of these things.
I would give these 100%, 10 out of 10, A++, and any other way of saying ‘Excellent’. People have commented that I have the loveliest smile of any 3-legged Old English Sheepdog they’ve seen that day. I hope you found this review useful.
